The Trullo Grande is a classic "Trullo Salentino," or more correctly a pajara, a dry-stone construction once used as a shelter by local farmers. The renovation of the original building was completed in April 2013 and this trullo is, in chronological order, the third vacation home built for Residence degli Ulivi, located on the hill sloping down to the sea of the sandy coast of Marina di Pescoluse (Municipality of Salve), about 10 km west of Santa Maria di Leuca, in the southernmost area of Salento, at the beginning of the Ionian coast.
Starting from the original building equipped with an old bread oven and over two meters thick walls that helped to keep a mild temperature inside in winter and cool in summer, the Trullo Grande today has been equipped with a living area (living room) on the ground floor and a loft with wooden beams and slab for the sleeping area, while outside there is a covered kitchen with dining area, a full bathroom with toilet, bidet, shower and washing machine; there is also a second shower outside with plenty of hot water thanks to solar panels. The Big Trullo can accommodate up to 4/5 people, counting the double bed on the loft under the striking stone dome and the two-seater sofa bed along with the ottoman in the living room. From the trullo area and especially from its terrace there is a beautiful view of the enchanting landscape of Salento and its crystal clear sea. The gazebo offers shelter from the sun during the day and a romantic setting as a dining area in the evening.
The furniture is new and modern and the building also has Wi-Fi, hot-cold air conditioning system, dishwasher and microwave. A large and convenient parking area is located in front of the trullo as well as the brick barbecue, all surrounded by a centuries-old olive grove with 8000 square meters of private land around the structure, whose secluded location guarantees complete tranquility and privacy. Trullo Grande is an old stone building surrounded by greenery, ideal for nature and camping lovers; consequently, it does not have the same features and comfort as a modern city apartment.
The building and facilities are up to safety standards and there is no danger in the normal and customary use of appliances and other equipment. The water in the cistern is potable but boiling it for food use is always recommended. Trullo Grande is delivered clean, equipped with bed and bath linens. Weekly change is included in the price. Pets (such as dog, cat) are welcome as long as they do not disturb the neighborhood.
The trullo is part of the accommodations of the small Residence degli Ulivi. We can also offer a small Trullo, two liame, two modern apartments. A discount will be applied to them as well.
The long coastline surrounding the Leuca area has several touristically equipped lidos, but it is especially famous for its free and wild beaches in their natural setting, accessible on foot, by bicycle or even by car. The Salento sea is certified among the cleanest in Italy. Even in the vicinity of Pescoluse and Residence degli Ulivi there are several very beautiful and distinctive beaches and stretches of sea. But if the splendid territories of Puglia and in particular those of Salento are known to most people almost exclusively for their crystal blue seas and golden beaches. These region, however, has much more to offer between history, art, landscapes, small picturesque villages and monuments, etc. Then there are the beautiful cities such as Gallipoli, Lecce and Otranto.
